Wuthering Waves Convene Guide: Astrite Costs, Pity, Banner Guarantees and Corals

Updated 2026-09 Game version 3.6 Reading time 20 min

Verified against the released game (v3.6). Where sources disagree, we say so.

Your Convene budget depends on the banner you choose, the currency it accepts, and what its guarantee actually promises. Having enough pulls for a 5-star does not always mean having enough for the featured Resonator. Likewise, pulls spent on a weapon banner do not advance your character-banner pity, even when both draws began as Astrite in the same wallet.

For version 3.6, the central figures are 160 Astrite per ordinary pull, a 0.8% base 5-star rate, and 80-pull hard pity. Featured Resonator Convenes add a 50/50 decision when you obtain a 5-star; Featured Weapon Convene guarantees that every 5-star is the featured weapon. The Novice Convene has its own shorter guarantee and discount.

Use the banner comparison first, then work through the sections relevant to your account. The budget examples calculate costs from the documented rules; they describe maximum reserves or hypothetical balances, not predictions of when your next 5-star will appear.

Match your objective to the right Convene

A banner's guarantee answers a specific question. It might promise a non-promotional 5-star, a selected standard Resonator, or the featured weapon. Read that promise alongside the banner name before treating any pull total as progress toward your goal.

Convene Currency What the documented guarantee gives you
Featured Resonator Convene Radiant Tide A 5-star within 80 pulls; the featured Resonator is subject to the 50/50 rule and the guarantee after a loss
Featured Weapon Convene Forging Tide The featured 5-star weapon within 80 pulls, with no 50/50
Novice Convene: Utterance of Marvels Lustrous Tide One non-promotional 5-star within 50 pulls, with a 20% discount
Beginner's Choice Convene Lustrous Tide A selected standard 5-star Resonator within 80 pulls
Standard Resonator Convene: Tidal Chorus Lustrous Tide A 5-star within 80 pulls
Standard Weapon Convene Lustrous Tide An 80-pull 5-star guarantee and a selectable non-promotional 5-star weapon target
Collaboration Resonator Convene Dreamcatcher Tide A separate collaboration pity system with the character 50/50 rule
Collaboration Weapon Convene Shadowforge Tide A dedicated collaboration weapon currency and pity separate from regular limited banners

The distinction between the two standard banners matters even though both use Lustrous Tide. Spending those Tides on Tidal Chorus serves a different objective from spending them on Standard Weapon Convene. A shared currency does not make their pity counters interchangeable.

For a new account, separate your decisions into two questions: how to use Lustrous Tide on the available beginner or standard options, and how much Astrite to reserve for a featured target. Combining those questions into one total can conceal the fact that some of your pulls are usable only on another banner category.

If you have not settled on a Resonator to build, use Team Building Basics to identify the role you want to fill. The Convene rules can tell you the acquisition conditions; they cannot establish that a particular character or weapon is the best fit for your team.

Convert Astrite into a budget you can actually spend

An ordinary Tide costs 160 Astrite. Lustrous Tide serves standard and novice banners, Radiant Tide serves Featured Resonator Convene, and Forging Tide serves Featured Weapon Convene. Version 3.4 added Dreamcatcher Tide and Shadowforge Tide for collaboration draws. Treat each Tide balance as a separate inventory when planning.

The table below is multiplication at the ordinary exchange rate. The Novice discount is calculated separately because its number of pulls and number of Tides spent are different.

Ordinary pulls funded entirely with Astrite Astrite required
1 160
10 1,600
40 6,400
50 8,000
80 12,800
160 25,600

To count what you can use on a particular banner, divide your Astrite by 160, round down to whole pulls, and add only the Tides that banner accepts. For example, a hypothetical balance of 3,200 Astrite and 12 Radiant Tides supports 32 Featured Resonator pulls. Any Lustrous Tides you own belong in a different calculation.

If your Astrite does not divide evenly, keep the remainder visible. A hypothetical 3,350 Astrite funds 20 ordinary pulls with 150 Astrite left over. That remainder is close to another pull, but it is not one yet. Rounding up would overstate your available budget precisely when you are deciding whether a guarantee is affordable.

Keep Astrite uncommitted until you have chosen the banner and checked its Tide. This preserves your ability to allocate the same Astrite balance between character and weapon objectives. When comparing plans, subtract any allocation to the first objective before judging whether the second remains funded.

Corals, Shell Credits, and Astrite also need separate entries. The research confirms that Corals have store uses, but it does not provide a complete current exchange-price table. Do not count an assumed Coral purchase as extra pulls before checking the actual offer. Currency Guide covers the wider economy; here, the useful number is the amount already available for your chosen Convene.

Read base rates, hard pity, and the 4-star guarantee correctly

The documented general rates are 0.8% base probability for a 5-star and 6% for a 4-star. The recorded consolidated 5-star rate, including pity, is 1.8%. Base and consolidated rates describe different things: the latter incorporates the guarantee system and should not be substituted for the probability of every individual pull.

Hard pity places an upper limit on the wait for a qualifying rarity. The ordinary 5-star guarantee is within 80 pulls, while the Novice Convene explicitly shortens its guarantee to 50. The general 4-star guarantee is every 10 pulls. Those figures identify rarity guarantees, not a promise that every batch contains your preferred character.

Three distinctions prevent most budgeting errors:

  1. A base rate is not a schedule. The 0.8% figure does not tell you a particular pull number on which you should expect to succeed.
  2. Hard pity is a ceiling, not a required purchase. You can obtain the 5-star before reaching the limit.
  3. Rarity and identity have different rules. On Featured Resonator Convene, obtaining a 5-star can still leave you needing another 5-star result for the featured target.

For example, 12,800 Astrite funds 80 ordinary pulls from a fresh counter. On a regular character event banner, that reserve reaches the 5-star guarantee but does not necessarily secure the featured Resonator. On Featured Weapon Convene, the same pull allowance reaches a 5-star whose identity is guaranteed to be the featured weapon.

The 10-pull 4-star guarantee likewise does not identify which 4-star you will receive. If you are considering a banner because of a particular 4-star, do not equate one 10-pull allowance with that specific acquisition. The supplied research does not establish an individual 4-star targeting guarantee.

It also does not establish an exact soft-pity threshold or a pull-by-pull probability curve. No soft-pity number is needed for a conservative budget: use the documented hard limit, then revise your remaining allocation if a 5-star arrives sooner. Calculating an exact success probability for an intermediate pull total would require more detailed rules than the supplied base and consolidated rates.

Featured Resonator Convene uses Radiant Tide. When you are on the 50/50, the 5-star result has a 50% chance to be the featured Resonator. If you lose that result, the next 5-star is guaranteed to be featured. Consequently, starting from a fresh counter without a featured guarantee, the documented worst case is 160 pulls.

The 50/50 applies to the identity of a 5-star result. It does not mean that an ordinary pull has a 50% chance of giving you the featured character. First, you obtain a 5-star under the rarity rules; then the featured-character rule determines whether that result satisfies your target.

Starting situation Maximum pulls needed under the documented rule Astrite equivalent if every pull is purchased
Fresh counter, 50/50 unresolved, goal is any 5-star 80 12,800
Fresh counter, 50/50 unresolved, goal is the featured Resonator 160 25,600
Immediately after losing the 50/50 on that banner 80 more 12,800 more

Consider a hypothetical attempt in which your first 5-star arrives on pull 35 and is not featured. The next 5-star is guaranteed featured, and allowing another full 80 pulls makes the remaining reserve 12,800 Astrite. In that example, the target takes at most 115 pulls from the beginning of the attempt. The 160-pull figure assumes the first 5-star also takes the full 80.

This is why you should record both your progress toward the next 5-star and whether that 5-star is guaranteed featured. Two players can have the same current pull count but different exposure to the 50/50. Their next rarity guarantee may be equally close while their maximum remaining cost for the desired character differs.

Choose your stopping condition before drawing. You might stop at the first 5-star regardless of identity, or continue after a loss only if the reserved budget covers that decision. A lost 50/50 changes the next result's guarantee; it does not add currency to your account. Any plan to continue still has to fit your remaining Radiant Tides and Astrite.

Featured Weapon Convene accepts Forging Tide. Every 5-star obtained on it is the featured weapon, and that 5-star is guaranteed within 80 pulls. There is no second character-style 50/50 hurdle after you reach the 5-star rarity.

From a fresh weapon counter, the maximum ordinary exchange cost is therefore 80 multiplied by 160, or 12,800 Astrite. An earlier 5-star reduces what you spend. You do not need to reserve another 80 pulls to recover from an off-target 5-star on this banner.

The guarantee concerns the weapon's identity, not its usefulness to every account. Wuthering Waves has five weapon types: Sword, Broadblade, Pistols, Gauntlets, and Rectifier. Each Resonator uses one type. Check compatibility and the weapon's passive before deciding that a guaranteed featured result is worth allocating your Astrite to it.

A character-and-weapon plan also contains two separate pity budgets. Starting both counters fresh, a featured Resonator subject to the 50/50 can require 160 pulls, and the featured weapon can require another 80. The combined maximum is 240 pulls, equivalent to 38,400 Astrite at the ordinary exchange rate. This is a derived reserve calculation, not a typical cost or a recommendation to obtain both.

If obtaining the character is your main objective, resolve that budget first. After the character arrives, reassess the weapon against the resources you actually have left and the weapons already available to you. Weapons Guide explains the equipment considerations, while Weapon Leveling covers the investment needed after acquisition.

Use the Novice discount without confusing pulls and Tides

The Novice Convene is named Utterance of Marvels. It allows up to 50 pulls, costs 20% fewer Lustrous Tides than the ordinary rate, and guarantees one non-promotional 5-star within those pulls. If you obtain the 5-star earlier, the banner closes early.

Its full allowance therefore costs 40 Lustrous Tides for 50 pulls. The discount calculation is 50 multiplied by 0.8, giving 40. You are counting 50 results toward this beginner guarantee while spending 40 units of its currency; those numbers refer to different parts of the transaction.

Full Novice allowance Derived value
Maximum pulls 50
Lustrous Tides required after the discount 40
Ordinary Tide cost for 50 pulls elsewhere 50
Tide saving compared with 50 ordinary pulls 10
Astrite equivalent of 40 Lustrous Tides 6,400

The 6,400 Astrite equivalent is a comparison tool. If you already hold Lustrous Tides, you do not need to purchase those same Tides again. Count what is in your inventory before deciding whether to allocate any Astrite to the remaining cost.

The banner's guarantee is for a non-promotional 5-star, so do not treat it as the selectable-target offer. It can give your account an initial result that helps inform a later choice, but it does not let this guide promise a particular Resonator. The research does not supply the complete eligible pool, so check the listed candidates when evaluating the result you might receive.

Early closure also changes how you should read the maximum cost. Forty Lustrous Tides is the cost of the full 50-pull allowance if needed, not a compulsory spend after an early 5-star. Once the banner closes, assess the result and your remaining currency before choosing another banner.

A practical sequence is to identify the Novice offer, check its discount, spend according to your chosen limit, and evaluate the resulting roster before selecting a standard target elsewhere. For broader early-account priorities, see Beginner Guide.

Make Beginner's Choice a deliberate roster decision

Beginner's Choice Convene lets you select a standard 5-star Resonator and guarantees that target within 80 pulls. It belongs to the beginner options using Lustrous Tide. Its defining benefit is control over the target, which serves a different purpose from the random non-promotional result on Utterance of Marvels.

Choose with your existing roster in view. If you have already used the Novice Convene, its result is information you can use: you now know which Resonator you received and can compare the remaining selectable options against the team you intend to play. There is no need to decide from an imagined starting roster when you can use your actual one.

Work through the choice in this order:

  1. Inspect the eligible standard Resonators shown by the selector.
  2. Identify the specific role or playstyle you want the choice to provide.
  3. Compare the target with the Resonators you already own and intend to build.
  4. Confirm the selected target before allocating pulls.
  5. Reassess the budget when that target is obtained; the 80-pull limit is the guarantee ceiling.

Do not automatically apply the Novice banner's 20% discount to Beginner's Choice. The supplied research attaches that discount specifically to Utterance of Marvels. At the ordinary exchange rate, an 80-Tide allowance is equivalent to 12,800 Astrite, before accounting for Lustrous Tides already owned.

The research confirms target selection and the 80-pull guarantee but does not specify the complete unlock requirements or what happens when you change a Beginner's Choice target. Check those details in the offer before relying on a target-switching plan. In particular, the documented Standard Weapon rule about retaining pity when changing targets should not be copied onto this separate selector.

For help comparing an additional Resonator with further investment in your current team, use Resonator Priorities for F2P Accounts. Decide what the selected character will contribute before treating the selector as an obligation to chase a duplicate.

Distinguish Tidal Chorus from Standard Weapon Convene

Tidal Chorus is the Standard Resonator Convene. It uses Lustrous Tide and follows the ordinary 80-pull 5-star guarantee. Standard Weapon Convene also uses Lustrous Tide, but it provides a selectable non-promotional 5-star weapon target. These are separate banner types with separate pity progress.

If you want a specific standard Resonator and have an applicable Beginner's Choice offer, compare that targeted guarantee with Tidal Chorus before spending. The research documents a Resonator selector for Beginner's Choice; it does not document the same feature for Tidal Chorus. An 80-pull rarity guarantee alone cannot be read as a guarantee for whichever standard Resonator you personally prefer.

For Standard Weapon Convene, select a target that matches the equipment need you are trying to address. A Sword user and a Rectifier user have different compatibility requirements, regardless of which weapon is advertised as desirable elsewhere. Consider both the weapon type and passive alongside the Resonator you intend to equip.

The explicit carryover rule here is useful: Standard Weapon Convene pity carries across target changes. Changing the selected weapon within that banner therefore does not erase its accumulated pity. This is a documented exception to the common mistake of treating every change in selection as a completely new counter.

For a hypothetical illustration, suppose you have made 30 Standard Weapon pulls toward the next 5-star without receiving one. Changing the selected target retains those 30 pulls of progress. Moving instead to Tidal Chorus would be a change of banner type, so those weapon pulls would not become character-banner pity.

The practical decision is how to allocate a finite Lustrous Tide balance between your objectives. If you divide it across both standard banners, record the resulting counters separately. Do not judge how close you are to a guarantee by adding all standard pulls together. A target choice can change; the distinction between character and weapon banner types still applies.

Keep separate pity records for separate banner types

Pity is not shared between different banner types. Your total account-wide number of Convenes is therefore not a useful substitute for the count relevant to the banner you are about to use. The accepted currency helps identify that banner, but currency alone is insufficient because multiple standard and beginner offers use Lustrous Tide.

Suppose, as a hypothetical example, you have made 40 Featured Resonator pulls and 40 Featured Weapon pulls without a 5-star on either. You have spent 80 pulls across the account, but neither counter has reached its own 80-pull guarantee. The weapon results do not complete the character counter, and the character results do not complete the weapon counter.

Use a note or worksheet with these fields:

Field to record Why you need it
Exact Convene name and type Prevents mixing beginner, standard, featured, or collaboration activity
Tide accepted Shows which inventory balance can fund the next pull
Pulls since the relevant last 5-star Tracks progress toward that banner's rarity guarantee
Featured guarantee status, when applicable Distinguishes the character 50/50 from the guaranteed result after a loss
Selected target, when applicable Records the objective on a selector banner
Maximum additional pulls you intend to spend Keeps the action tied to your current budget

Two kinds of banner change need different evidence. The research explicitly says that pity does not transfer between banner types and that Standard Weapon pity survives a target change. It does not spell out every carryover rule between successive limited banners or between concurrently displayed limited banners of the same type. Check their specific details before combining those histories or assuming a guarantee transfers.

This limitation is especially relevant when returning after a break. Preserve separate notes for the old and current offers until you have confirmed the applicable rule. A calendar change, a new featured portrait, or a familiar Tide icon is not enough evidence on its own to reconstruct your guarantee status.

The same discipline prevents a beginner-banner mistake: completing the Novice offer does not give you a general-purpose pity balance to apply wherever you draw next. Its shorter guarantee and early closure belong to that offer.

Treat collaboration Convenes as their own allocation

Version 3.4 introduced the collaboration Tide types: Dreamcatcher Tide for collaboration Resonators and Shadowforge Tide for collaboration weapons. These are distinct from Radiant Tide and Forging Tide. The collaboration pity system is separate from regular limited banners, so prior regular featured pulls should not be counted toward a collaboration guarantee.

The documented character 50/50 rule also applies within the collaboration system. Keep the collaboration character's featured-guarantee status separate from the status you recorded for a regular Featured Resonator Convene. Otherwise, you could enter a collaboration draw expecting a guaranteed featured result based on a loss that happened in another banner category.

The version 3.4 Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration provides a concrete historical example. Lucy had a collaboration-exclusive banner, while Rebecca was obtainable free through the collaboration event. These acquisition routes are different. The existence of a collaboration Resonator does not by itself establish that you had to spend collaboration Tides to obtain that character.

Those are historical version 3.4 details, not a promise that the event rewards or banners remain available in version 3.6. Before budgeting for collaboration content, confirm the currently displayed offer and its availability. The supplied research does not establish future collaboration reruns, unused-Tide conversion rules, or carryover between separate collaboration events.

Also keep the strength of each verified rule in view. The regular Featured Weapon Convene explicitly has no 50/50. The research identifies Shadowforge Tide and separate collaboration pity, but does not separately detail the collaboration weapon banner's complete targeting terms. Inspect those terms before applying the regular featured-weapon guarantee to a collaboration weapon offer.

For planning, put collaboration pulls on a dedicated line beside your regular character and weapon goals. Their Astrite funding may compete with those goals, but their dedicated Tides and separate pity mean the results are not interchangeable progress.

Account for duplicates, Wavebands, and the two Coral currencies

Duplicate Resonators support Resonance Chain progression. A Resonator has six chain nodes, unlocked through duplicate copies. The documented 5-star Resonator duplicate reward is one Waveband plus 15 Afterglow Corals. The Waveband and Corals serve different purposes: one contributes to that Resonator's sequence progression, while the other is shop currency.

The supplied research records these conversion outcomes:

Result Recorded reward or conversion
Duplicate 5-star Resonator One Waveband and 15 Afterglow Corals
Duplicate 5-star weapon, as described in the systems summary 15 Afterglow Corals
Duplicate 4-star weapon, as described in the systems summary 3 Afterglow Corals
3-star weapon result 15 Oscillated Corals

The weapon duplicate amounts come from the systems research's medium-confidence summary. It does not establish a complete 4-star Resonator duplicate table, so the 3-Coral weapon figure should not be generalized to every 4-star character result. The research also does not establish the adjusted rewards, if any, after all six Resonance Chain nodes are unlocked.

Afterglow Corals and Oscillated Corals are separate currencies. Record them separately and inspect the appropriate store offers. The documented shop uses include items and Resonators, but the supplied files do not establish current prices, purchase caps, or refresh schedules. Budget from an offer you can confirm rather than assuming every Coral balance can immediately buy the same reward.

Weapon duplicates also have a progression use: Syntonize consumes a duplicate to increase the weapon's rank, from Rank 1 up to Rank 5. Receiving shop currency does not settle whether you should use the duplicate for that upgrade; evaluate the weapon's passive and your equipment needs before consuming it.

If a character duplicate is your intended target, read the relevant chain effect before committing pulls. Resonance Chain Guide covers that decision in more detail. Count Corals after obtaining them rather than subtracting speculative duplicate returns from the Astrite reserve needed to reach a guarantee.

Build a funded plan from a mixed inventory

A mixed inventory is where correct individual calculations can still produce an unaffordable plan. Consider a hypothetical account with 19,200 Astrite, 40 Radiant Tides, and 20 Forging Tides, starting with fresh character and weapon counters and no featured-character guarantee.

The Astrite funds 120 ordinary pulls. Adding the 40 Radiant Tides provides the full 160-pull maximum for a featured Resonator, but doing so allocates all 19,200 Astrite to that goal. The 20 Forging Tides remain available for the weapon; they do not complete its 80-pull maximum allowance.

To reserve both maximums at once, subtract the owned Tides from each target: the character needs 120 additional pulls and the weapon needs 60. Those 180 purchased pulls require 28,800 Astrite, leaving this hypothetical account 9,600 Astrite short of funding both guarantees. An early result could reduce the eventual spend, but it cannot be assumed when deciding what is fully funded now.

Turn that calculation into an action plan:

  1. Rank the character and weapon objectives by your actual preference.
  2. Reserve the matching Tides and Astrite for the first objective.
  3. Set a maximum spend for the second using only the unallocated balance.
  4. Update the balance and guarantee status after a 5-star result.
  5. Add future rewards to the available budget only once claimed.

For finding additional Astrite sources, use F2P Astrite Guide. Keep potential earnings separate from today's spendable balance, especially when an offer has limited availability. That separation lets you choose between a fully funded target and a smaller attempt with a clear stopping point.
